Jeonnam Fire Department, 14th Fire Officer New Appointees Graduation Ceremony
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seventy-four rookie Jeonnam firefighters have successfully completed 19 weeks of training and took a strong first step toward ensuring the safety of the residents.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 27th that it held the ‘14th Firefighter New Appointee Graduation Ceremony’ at the Fire School auditorium, attended by about 100 people including the headquarters chief, graduates, and faculty members.
Graduation certificates and commendations were awarded along with a congratulatory speech by Chief Kim Joil, and the ceremony was broadcast live so that family, relatives, and acquaintances who could not attend could celebrate together.
Three outstanding students including Um Seokjun and three others recognized for their contributions during the training period, including Jo Dongsuk, received commendations from the Governor of Jeollanam-do. Then, the representative of the trainees solemnly pledged to faithfully carry out their duties as public servants to the people.
The graduates, who entered training on September 19 last year, completed the 19-week rookie training course and will be assigned to 20 fire stations across Jeonnam on the 30th to protect the lives of residents in their respective positions.
Firefighter Trainee Jo Dongsuk said, “I am grateful to the professors who passionately guided us and to my fellow trainees who endured the difficult training process together,” adding, “I will not forget my initial resolve on the front lines and will become a trusted and outstanding firefighter for the people.”
Chief Kim Joil said, “The sweat and effort of the trainees will be the foundation for protecting the safety of the people and colleagues at disaster sites,” and urged, “Now, please protect the lives and property of the people in actual disaster situations, not just in training.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Fire School organized 80% of the entire training course as practical fieldwork, including live fire training, electric vehicle fire suppression, and agricultural machinery accident response, striving to equip trainees with on-site response capabilities for various disaster situations.
