Ship Withdraws Downstream After Final Voyage on the 26th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Andong Lake has frozen solid, leading to a complete suspension of ferry operations.
Andong City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that due to continuous cold waves causing the ferry operation sections on Andong Lake to freeze, ferry operations will be fully suspended starting from the 27th to ensure the safety of vessels and passengers.
Due to the freezing of the operation sections, all vessels withdrew downstream of Andong Lake after Gyeongbuk No. 703 operated for the last time on the 26th. Consequently, passengers and residents will be unable to use the ferry until the ice melts.
The Andong Imha Lake Water Transport Management Office stated, “We decided to suspend operations considering passenger safety,” adding, “The ferry is an important means of transportation in areas where traffic is cut off on Andong Lake, so we will resume operations as soon as the ice melts and water levels rise to minimize inconvenience to citizens.”
For inquiries regarding the suspension of ferry operations, please contact the Andong Imha Lake Water Transport Management Office in Andong City.
