Presidential Office Calls Kim Eui-gyeom's 'Kim Geon-hee Additional Stock Manipulation Claim' "Absurd Falsehood"

Presidential Office Refutes Lawmaker Kim Eui-gyeom's Commentary
"Arbitrary Interpretation of Others' Trial Details Without Basis"
"Kim Eui-gyeom Also Does Not Apologize for Claim About Cheongdam-dong Drinking Party"
Legal Liability Including False Information Disclosure Also Raised

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Presidential Office on the 27th refuted the allegations made by Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who claimed that First Lady Kim Geon-hee was involved in stock manipulation of Woori Technology, calling it "an absurd lie."

The spokesperson office of the Presidential Office stated in a notice to the press corps in the afternoon, "(Representative Kim) issued a written briefing without any basis, claiming that 'the president's spouse was involved in stock manipulation of another stock (Woori Technology),' but this is an absurd lie."

They added, "We strongly regret the 'false briefing' made by arbitrarily interpreting parts of information that emerged during someone else's trial process."

Furthermore, they criticized, "It cannot be justified under any excuse, nor does it help the national interest in any way, for a spokesperson of a political party to definitively declare that 'the president's spouse manipulated stocks' without any objective evidence such as the results of a financial supervisory investigation."

The Presidential Office particularly referred to spokesperson Kim's previous allegation regarding the president's whereabouts, specifically the 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party,' stating, "After spreading false information, there was no proper apology or responsible action taken. As a spokesperson of a political party, they must bear responsibility commensurate with 'spreading false information,'" they warned.

Earlier, Representative Kim, who is also the spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed in a commentary that "First Lady Kim has been found to be involved in another stock manipulation case, following Deutsche Motors, and this time it is Woori Technology, a manipulated stock," and insisted that she should be investigated by the prosecution.
