[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the morning of the 28th, many members of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) leadership, including party leader Lee Jae-myung, are expected to accompany him on his way to the prosecution. Park Hong-geun, the DPK floor leader, said in this regard, "I think it is appropriate for us to warmly greet and comfort the leader around the time he comes out after observing the investigation process."

After attending the New Year's greeting meeting of the Small Business Federation in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 27th, Floor Leader Park told reporters, "Most of the party leadership want to go as well," expressing this view.

He added, "Leader Lee has clearly and firmly stated several times that only he and his lawyer will go," and "According to what I heard from the secretary-general, political appointees may at least need practical support staff," he conveyed.

According to the opposition, some members of the party's Supreme Council and floor leader group, among the leadership, have confirmed plans to voluntarily accompany him on his way to the prosecution. On the same day, Kim Nam-guk, a pro-Lee Jae-myung faction DPK lawmaker, said on BBS Radio's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' "I think we should obviously go, but Leader Lee has been earnestly pleading, 'I will go alone, please don't come,' so I am conflicted," but added, "How can we let him go alone? I feel so sorry for him that I think we should go together."

Supreme Council member Jang Kyung-tae also expressed his intention to join on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' saying, "Since many supporters are expected to come out, I think we should attend to share various issues and listen to opinions through meetings with supporters."
