Bucheon-si Signs Agreement with Rental Apartment Management Offices to Establish '365-Day Care Plug' System

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi announced on the 27th that it has signed an agreement to establish a '365-day day and night care plug operation system' together with permanent rental apartment management offices, comprehensive social welfare centers, and Bucheon Senior Club.

The care plug operation system is a Bucheon-type community integrated care service that uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology to notify administrators of risks via text messages and the website if there is no change in household power consumption or lighting brightness over a certain period.

According to the agreement, Bucheon City will support the operation of care plugs at management offices, and the management offices of Jungdong Deokyu 1, Jungdong Hanla 1, Bucheon Chuni, and Okgil 1 Complex apartments will operate a system that monitors the well-being of care plug-installed subjects 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In addition, Bucheon Senior Club will support daytime monitoring personnel at management offices through senior job programs.

Until now, there had been care support gaps during nighttime, weekends, and holidays due to limitations in personnel and working hours, but with the management office designated as the dedicated operating institution, a 24/7 monitoring system can now be established.

A Bucheon City official stated, "In a situation where face-to-face relationships have weakened due to the impact of COVID-19, the care plug system is expected to play a significant role in resolving social isolation and care blind spots," adding, "The public and private sectors will continue to work to create a dense and systematic welfare safety community for local residents and ensure that all citizens are guaranteed care."
