Promotion of Webtoon Creation Experience Center and Regional Webtoon Campus Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Manhwa Contents Agency announced on the 27th that it will promote the 2023 Webtoon Creation Experience Center and Regional Webtoon Campus projects to provide webtoon creation experience opportunities and nurture professional creators.

The Webtoon Creation Experience Center and Regional Webtoon Campus development project started in 2015 and supported a total of 44 regional webtoon hubs last year. The number of people utilizing the Regional Webtoon Campus reaches 50,000. Among them, 232 have either started serializing webtoons or achieved employment in related companies.
In 2023, the ‘Webtoon Creation Experience Center and Regional Webtoon Campus’ development project will newly select 2 Webtoon Creation Experience Centers and 1 Regional Webtoon Campus. The Webtoon Creation Experience Centers will receive support funds up to 35 million KRW, and the Regional Webtoon Campus up to 350 million KRW.
Especially this year, the focus will be on strengthening cooperation among nearby regional institutions centered on the Regional Webtoon Campus and providing systematic educational opportunities, with full-scale operations scheduled to begin from the end of February. Applications can be submitted from February 13 to 17.
Lee Mijeong, head of the Cluster Development Team at the Korea Manhwa Contents Agency, said, “We will strive to provide webtoon work environments and educational opportunities for local youth through the nationwide expansion of the webtoon industry and the creation of a virtuous ecosystem based on regions, so that we can coexist with local communities.”
