[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pearl Abyss announced on the 27th that it donated 100 million KRW to 'M?decins Sans Fronti?res' together with Black Desert users.
Pearl Abyss held a donation event called "A World Made by the Warm Hearts of Adventurers" for Black Desert users at the end of last year. The event was structured so that if the target sales volume of the 'Christmas Tree Decoration,' which Black Desert users could purchase with in-game currency (silver), was achieved, Pearl Abyss would make a donation. Black Desert users worldwide gathered and exceeded the target quantity of 50,000, achieving sales of 2 million units. Black Desert Mobile also held a donation event called "Gathering the Fruits of Warm Hearts," greatly surpassing its target.
Pearl Abyss has been donating 100 million KRW annually to M?decins Sans Fronti?res from 2019 to 2022. The donations have been used for medical support activities for patients suffering in areas affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and medical blind spots worldwide. At the end of 2019, treatment was delivered to 85,000 patients vulnerable to malaria in South Sudan, and in 2020, emergency nutritional treatment food "Plumpy'Nut" was provided to over 2,200 children suffering from malnutrition. In 2021, support was given to medical staff and relief workers dispatched to Afghanistan.
Kim Semi, Head of Human Resources and Culture at Pearl Abyss, said, "We are very pleased to be able to deliver the donations gathered from Black Desert users worldwide to places in need of medical support," and added, "We thank the users who actively participated in the donation event."
Thierry Copans, Secretary General of M?decins Sans Fronti?res, said, "We sincerely thank Pearl Abyss and Black Desert users for their support for four consecutive years," and added, "The donations will be valuable in M?decins Sans Fronti?res' emergency medical relief activities to treat children with acute malnutrition and save lives."
