bhc Group announced on the 27th that Chairman Park Hyun-jong received a plaque of appreciation from Samsung Seoul Hospital after donating 300 million KRW in 2021 to support the treatment of pediatric and adolescent patients, followed by an additional donation of 200 million KRW at the end of last year.
The plaque presentation ceremony was held on the 26th at the Samsung Seoul Hospital Ilwon Campus, attended by bhc Group Chairman Park Hyun-jong, Samsung Seoul Hospital Director Park Seung-woo, and other related personnel.
The donation will be used to support costs for families struggling to afford treatment, especially for pediatric cancer and severe rare incurable diseases, as well as to operate emotional stability support programs for patients and their families.
According to the medical community, pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death among children in South Korea, and the number of rare disease patients under the age of 20 is increasing every year. In the case of pediatric cancer, more than 85% can be completely cured with proper treatment and return to healthy daily life. However, families with pediatric and adolescent patients often face significant difficulties due to economic burdens and psychological anxiety, as typically one parent takes on caregiving responsibilities during this process.
Chairman Park said, “The number of pediatric and adolescent patients suffering from pediatric cancer and severe rare diseases is increasing every year, but many families cannot receive timely treatment due to financial difficulties. Greater social interest and support are needed for the healthy growth and happiness of our children who will lead the future. I hope this support will help patients and their families overcome difficult times and focus solely on treatment.”
