For Parents, Spouses, and Children Who Died After 2008
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Are you aware of the ‘Online Ancestral Land Search Service’ that allows you to easily find your ancestors' land from home?
Ulsan City announced on the 27th that it has been implementing this service since November 21 of last year, eliminating the need to visit government offices in person.
The Ancestral Land Search Service is a system that informs descendants of the location of land owned by ancestors who suddenly passed away due to accidents, protecting the public's right to know and property rights.
This service previously required visiting the cadastral department of city, county, or district offices in person, leading to high demand for non-face-to-face administrative services from civil petitioners.
The online service targets parents, spouses, and children who died after January 1, 2008, and applicants can be children, spouses, or parents whose family relationships are confirmed through resident registration number verification.
Online applications can be made by accessing ‘K-Geo’, completing identity verification through a certified certificate, entering the information of the person to be searched, and attaching the required documents ‘Basic Certificate’ and ‘Family Relation Certificate’ issued by the Supreme Court’s electronic family relation registration system.
Once the online civil petition is received, local government officials verify the legality of the application contents, such as the death status of the person to be searched and the family relationship with the applicant, and provide results within 3 days of processing.
The existing face-to-face service targets landowners who died before December 31, 2007, or those excluded from the online service eligibility, and applicants must bring supporting documents verifying heir status and apply by visiting city, county, or district offices.
Through the Ancestral Land Search Service last year, Ulsan City provided data on 2,871,048 parcels (area 2,415.7㎢) for 29,075 people from 9,055 applications.
