Seoul City Renovates 'Namsan Information Center'

Additional Deployment of Multilingual Volunteers

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The 'Namsan Information Center' has officially opened on Namsan, a landmark famous in Seoul. The Jungbu Park Leisure Center of Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 27th that the space near the Namsan Seoul Tower circular bus (No. 01) stop at the top of Namsan Park, which had been used as a temporary information center, has been refurbished and newly opened as the 'Namsan Information Center.'

The 'Namsan Information Center' has been transformed into a more convenient space for visitors to use Namsan through advisory meetings and remodeling. It includes an information desk to welcome visitors, a family lounge & nursing room for families with infants and young children, an AED defibrillator for emergencies, and an information map that allows visitors to check the geography and information of Namsan Park at a glance. In addition to park guidance, visitors can receive information necessary for tourism throughout Seoul, which has received great responses from visitors.

Additionally, a gentle wheelchair-only ramp has been installed on the left side of the information center to allow wheelchair users to pass through. When accompanied by infants or citizens requiring wheelchairs, strollers and wheelchairs can be rented at the information center after verifying the renter's information.

The 'Namsan Information Center' is operated mainly by citizen volunteers. As the COVID-19 pandemic prolonged and daily life has been restored, the number of domestic and foreign visitors to Namsan has increased, leading to the recruitment and deployment of volunteers capable of foreign language communication within the information center. Volunteers will provide necessary information to minimize inconvenience when using the park.

Jaeho Ha, director of the Jungbu Park Leisure Center of Seoul, said, "Namsan is one of Seoul's top attractions and an essential tourist course for overseas travelers, so many tourists are expected to visit," adding, "We will strive to ensure that visitors to Namsan can use the park more conveniently and create meaningful memories."
