[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) achieved a grade 2 in the integrity evaluation last year. This is a two-step improvement compared to the previous year.
According to Korea Railroad on the 27th, in the '2022 Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation Results' recently announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, Korea Railroad received grade 2 in effort and grade 3 in perception, resulting in an overall grade 2.
The integrity evaluation is conducted annually to measure anti-corruption efforts and integrity of 501 institutions. Grades are divided from 1 to 5, determined by combining institution-specific perception scores (60%) and effort scores (40%), then reflecting (deducting) the corruption status evaluation results.
Korea Railroad was highly evaluated for its efforts to spread an anti-corruption and integrity culture, such as increasing dedicated personnel and reorganizing the integrity department to comply with the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act last year.
In particular, positive evaluation factors included the promotion of the 'K-Integrity Solution' project, establishment of Integrity SOS for continuous and interactive communication with partner companies, and discovery of ten ethical management tasks through public opinion collection, conducting two-way integrity communication activities involving employees, partner companies, and customers.
Korea Railroad President Na Hee-seung said, “Achieving an overall grade 2 in integrity is the result of the united efforts of employees and stakeholders to create a clean railroad ecosystem. Korea Railroad will continue to strive to maintain ethical management that the public trusts and that serves as a model for other public institutions.”
