[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will provide preliminary consulting to private businesses aiming to establish new industrial complexes to foster the semiconductor industry and promote investment.
This measure is intended to prevent any setbacks in the establishment of industrial complexes caused by various regulations before the formulation of new industrial complex development plans.
Through the consulting service, Yongin City can identify preliminary demand for industrial complexes, and business operators planning to develop new industrial complexes can receive guideline consultations.
The consulting targets are business operators who submitted project plans not included in the industrial complex supply plans from 2021 to 2023 or those aiming to attract semiconductor-related industries as their main business to develop new industrial complexes.
The city will comprehensively review basic requirements such as the suitability of the industrial complex location, compliance with various regulations, and alignment with the city's related plans through the Semiconductor Division 2 within the New Growth Strategy Bureau and related departments, as well as any inadequacies in the industrial complex plan proposals prepared by the business operators.
The city will provide consulting services until before the announcement of the demand survey for the new industrial complex development plans for the three years 2024 to 2026 (scheduled for April).
Business operators wishing to receive consulting can contact the Semiconductor Valley Team, Semiconductor Division 2, New Growth Strategy Bureau, located on the basement level 1 of Yongin City Hall.
Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin explained, "This is to provide preliminary consulting so that private investment can be made timely and effectively to establish Yongin's 'L-shaped' semiconductor belt and build a robust industrial ecosystem through the agglomeration of small, medium, and core material companies," adding, "The city will actively provide administrative support."
