[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is taking steps to reduce the 'three major serious misconducts'?power harassment, drunk driving, and sexual misconduct?by 10%.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will first express the commitment of fire station chiefs to eradicate power harassment through emails or declarations and will promote pledges and resolutions against power harassment among all employees.
They will also conduct cyber power harassment prevention training and carry out self-diagnosis and surveys on power harassment twice a year. When a power harassment complaint is received, initial separation measures for the victim will be strengthened, and if the harassment is confirmed, the responsible parties will be strictly disciplined.
To change perceptions about drunk driving, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters will strengthen education and issue advisories during vulnerable periods and alerts when incidents occur to raise awareness. In particular, a zero-tolerance policy will be applied when drunk driving is detected.
Regarding the eradication of sexual misconduct, they will activate counseling channels and plan to produce and distribute a new 'Gyeonggi Fire Department Grievance Handling Manual' that includes grievance processing methods.
Cho Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "We plan to implement specialized measures for each type of serious misconduct to prevent them from taking root," adding, "In the event of a serious incident, the perpetrator will be immediately suspended from their position and referred for investigation, with strict disciplinary action taken."
