Received Grade 3 with a 1-Level Increase in Overall Integrity Score
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 27th, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced that it received a grade 3 (Integrity Perception 3rd grade, Integrity Effort 2nd grade), one step higher than last year, in the 2022 public institution integrity measurement results announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission conducted a comprehensive integrity rating for a total of 569 public institutions including central administrative agencies, local governments, and city/provincial offices of education by reflecting ▲stakeholder surveys (Integrity Perception) ▲institution-specific anti-corruption improvement efforts (Integrity Effort) ▲objective corruption incident occurrence status (Corruption Reality).
In particular, Hamyang-gun received a 2nd grade in the Integrity Effort, which reflects anti-corruption improvement efforts applied from this evaluation, showing that the efforts of Jin Byeong-yeong, the 8th elected governor who launched with a strong will for integrity, are bearing fruit.
After receiving an overall integrity grade of 4 last year (external 5th grade, internal 2nd grade), Hamyang-gun analyzed the causes and prepared improvement plans for vulnerable areas, conducting various integrity activities centered on the head of the institution.
To this end, integrity education was strengthened for all public officials, integrity postcards were sent to civil petitioners who experienced administrative services, and anonymous reporting of public official misconduct was enabled, promoting integrity policies that residents can feel and increasing trust in administration.
Additionally, special measures were established for the construction sector, a vulnerable area in integrity, and strenuous efforts were made to improve integrity.
Governor Jin Byeong-yeong said, “The improvement in integrity compared to last year is the result created together by public officials and residents who worked hard for an honest Hamyang-gun,” and added, “We will continue to implement honest Hamyang by operating the county government trusted by residents without wavering from temptations around us, based on communication and fairness to achieve the highest integrity grade.”
