[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that it achieved Grade 2 in the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment of Public Institutions announced by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
An official from the county cited the main reasons for the two-step increase in integrity compared to last year as County Governor Gu In-mo's declaration to restore integrity honor and special directives, analysis of the main causes of integrity decline and preparation of countermeasures, and the consistent efforts of all public officials to improve integrity.
Over the past year, the county has implemented various policies to restore Clean Geochang’s honor, such as the visiting CleanTeam, online meetings, integrity photo contests, and discovering and implementing department-specific initiatives.
Looking at the specific grades for this comprehensive integrity, the perceived integrity level measuring corruption within and outside the institution is Grade 2. This is a weighted sum of 70.4% external perception and 29.6% internal perception.
In addition, the integrity effort level, which evaluates the institution’s anti-corruption efforts and policy effectiveness over one year, also received Grade 2, resulting in an overall comprehensive integrity score of Grade 2, higher than the county average.
Governor Gu said, “I am pleased and relieved that the two-grade rise in the comprehensive integrity evaluation reflects our efforts and sincerity so far, but there is still work to be done to fully realize Clean Geochang.” He added, “We will carefully analyze this integrity evaluation and prepare various countermeasures to definitely achieve Grade 1 in integrity.”
