[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it received a 2nd grade, improving by one grade from last year, in the ‘2022 Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation’ conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission annually assesses the integrity level and corruption status of 501 public institutions (including central and local governments, education offices, and public-related organizations), comprehensively considering factors such as perceived integrity, integrity efforts, and corruption realities, rating from the highest 1st grade to the lowest 5th grade to enhance integrity.
Notably, this evaluation highlighted the activities of rookie employees’ Integrity Rookies and the honorary rookie activities of the district mayor. The Integrity Rookie program involves rookie employees and the district mayor engaging in integrity empathy talks to generate integrity ideas and promote integrity policies, fostering an organizational culture of integrity.
Additionally, the district is promoting the creation of an integrity culture within the organization and fair job performance through ▲ customized integrity education by public service cycle ▲ integrity book reading education ▲ signing of pledges to practice conflict of interest prevention ▲ focused education on conflict of interest prevention and establishment of an online reporting center ▲ relay signing of integrity pledges by all employees ▲ and integrity capacity-building workshops.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Public officials must always serve the residents with humility as representatives of the public interest and maintain integrity,” adding, “This achievement is the result of joint efforts by all employees and residents, and we will do our best to build a clean and trusted integrity city, Yeongdeungpo.”
