According to local media on the 26th, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the suspension of distribution of some 'Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi Flavor Bowl' products the day before.

The suspended products include a total of 3,040 units: 480 units with an expiration date until the 4th of next month and 2,560 units until May 8th.

This measure was taken following the detection of harmful substances in the imported products to Taiwan.

The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced on the 17th that residual pesticide testing of the 'Shin Ramyun Black Tofu Kimchi Bowl' detected 0.075 mg/kg of ethylene oxide (EO) in the soup. Accordingly, Taiwanese authorities decided to return or dispose of 1,000 boxes, totaling 1,128 kg, of this product.

In response, the manufacturer Nongshim stated that 2-chloroethanol (2-CE), not EO, was detected in the products exported to Taiwan and pledged to strengthen monitoring.

2-CE is a harmful substance that can occur as a byproduct of EO, a pesticide component. It is known that Taiwan's announcement converted the detected amount of 2-CE into EO values.
