[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is focusing on boldly reducing unnecessary school administrative tasks and promoting policies accordingly.
On the 26th, the Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that it will end the operation of the 'School Work Restructuring Pilot Schools' next month and proceed with policy directions centered on reducing and streamlining the total amount of school work.
The decision to end the pilot schools was made after comprehensively evaluating the project performance, including whether the project goals were achieved, effectiveness, and willingness to carry out the project, during the first-year performance evaluation and re-designation review according to the original recruitment plan.
Additionally, aiming to reduce and streamline school workloads, the Gyeonggi Office of Education plans to establish a dedicated department for school work improvement on March 1st to support schools in focusing on their core roles.
As an administrative improvement policy to create conditions for school autonomy, the office will promote ▲ reduction and abolition of unnecessary administrative tasks ▲ strengthening the role of education support offices ▲ sharing policies to reduce school workloads and expanding communication and cooperation systems among institutions.
Lee Mi-yong, Administrative Management Officer at the Gyeonggi Office of Education, stated, "The new policy direction is to reduce unnecessary administrative tasks based on the understanding and cooperation of school members and to improve work methods to make tasks easier." She added, "We will actively collect opinions from the school field to streamline school administration and focus on creating conditions that allow schools to concentrate on educational activities."
