Samsung Electronics' 2023 Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner boasts a major advantage in that it can be used without worrying about electricity costs even in an environment where electricity rates have risen sharply.

On the 26th, the reporter personally examined the new Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Gallery model, which had an energy consumption efficiency rating of 1 to 2 for all models. In particular, by doubling the heat exchanger’s heat transfer area and applying a larger outdoor unit fan and a high-efficiency motor, the cooling efficiency was about 10% higher than the energy consumption efficiency grade 1 standard.

Additionally, by utilizing Samsung Electronics' smart home connection platform 'SmartThings' with its 'AI Saving Mode,' energy usage could be further reduced by 20%. Based on the cooling area of 56.1㎡ (17-pyeong model), compared to last year’s product operating under the same conditions, about 7,000 KRW can be saved on the monthly electricity bill.

Not only is the efficiency high, but the eco-friendly features have also been significantly enhanced. The eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, previously applied to the Gallery and Classic models, has now been applied to the Wind-Free Slim model as well, and the solar cell remote control that requires no batteries has been expanded to the Classic model. Furthermore, it is equipped with a washable ultra-fine filter and an electrostatic dust collection filter that can be used semi-permanently. The filter can be easily detached and cleaned by oneself in about 30 seconds.

The new Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Gallery model has upgraded Easy Care to 8 levels to allow consumers to manage the air conditioner more conveniently. By using the SmartThings Home Care service, the product’s device status can be diagnosed, and newly added features can be experienced through home care upgrades. Even when the product power is off, it senses indoor temperature and humidity and automatically operates cooling, dehumidifying, and purification functions for convenience.

The newly added 'Antibacterial Copper Ultra-Fine Filter' to the existing Easy Care AI via SmartThings removes large dust particles entering the air conditioner and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria by 99.9% with copper sulfide components, providing antibacterial effects. In response to the growing pet market, 'Pet Care' has also been added. Temperature and humidity can be automatically adjusted according to the breed, hair length, and weight of the pet.

The design has also evolved. The silhouette design, applied with 3D metal press technology, adds subtle curves to the air conditioner’s metal panel surface, giving it a more luxurious feel with volume. The approximately 270,000 wind-free micro holes, which increased by about 1,500 compared to previous models, emit cool air that does not directly touch the skin while maintaining a cool indoor temperature, allowing for comfortable cooling.

Space cooling has been enhanced with 'High-Pass Circul Cooling.' As soon as indoor air is drawn in, three fans strongly blow cool air forward, and the lower circulator fan creates circulating airflow to send the cool air far away. Also, the Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Gallery lineup with the 'Body Temperature Wind' function, which provides comfort with warm air at 30~40°C, has been expanded up to 56.9㎡. The Body Temperature Wind function is a specialized feature targeting the Korean market, inspired by the fact that in Korea, where floor heating systems are well established, warm air is only temporarily needed in spring and autumn.

However, the fact that the new product’s price is 4~5% higher than last year’s may be a downside from the consumer’s perspective. The Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Gallery’s retail price ranges from 3.22 million to 6.79 million KRW (single unit basis), varying according to the cooling area. The Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Classic is priced between 2.87 million and 3.12 million KRW (single unit basis).
