SK Hynix Conducts Overseas Work Program to Develop Global Talent

Working for 5 Weeks at Local Corporation and Partner Company

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] SK Hynix recently conducted a short-term overseas work program as part of establishing global hub offices. This was to support employees in gaining diverse work experiences by working for 5 weeks at the company’s local subsidiaries and partner companies.

On the 26th, SK Hynix introduced cases of in-house employees participating in the Global Capability Enhancement Program (GXP) through its newsroom.

GXP is a program where employees select their desired overseas work location and flexibly adjust the proportion of their existing domestic work and new tasks during the day while working locally. It is a concrete example of the flexible work environment and global hub office promotion vision announced by SK Hynix Vice Chairman Park Jung-ho in March last year.

SK Hynix first implemented GXP in October last year. The following month, 12 employees were selected as the first cohort of GXP and worked for 5 weeks at overseas subsidiaries and partner companies (BPs). Nine were sent to SK Hynix’s Americas subsidiary, and one each to partner companies such as Lam Research, WPA, and Carl Zeiss.

The first cohort members simultaneously carried out domestic and local work for 5 weeks, building global competitiveness. They also had opportunities to enhance collaboration and exchange with overseas partners. Yeoseungmi, TL of SK Hynix Future Technology Research Institute who worked at the American semiconductor equipment company Lam Research, said, “I was able to clearly understand various equipment used in research and development (R&D).”

Yoon Janghoon, TL of SK Hynix Solution Development who participated in the Solid State Drive (SSD) project conducted by the Americas subsidiary, also said, “I feel that my work spectrum has broadened significantly.” Yoon TL added, “I was able to analyze SSD source code and experience the architecture, and I overcame my fear of overseas business trips.”

SK Hynix plans to develop various programs including GXP in the future. With programs that enhance global leadership, language skills, work, and technical capabilities, the company aims to cultivate talent at a global level.

Choi Jinhwa, TL of SK Hynix Competency Planning team, emphasized, “In the future, GXP will be the cornerstone that expands SK Hynix’s work environment overseas while achieving meaningful results in super (超) collaboration.”
