Discount Event Starting from March 2021
As interest in the environment has recently increased, more consumers are using personal tumblers instead of disposable cups when purchasing brewed coffee at convenience stores.
According to 7-Eleven on the 26th, the number of purchases using personal tumblers or cups at 7-Cafe has surpassed 500,000. Since March 2021, 7-Eleven has been running an event as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities, offering discounts when customers use personal tumblers.
7-Eleven has also taken steps to reduce disposable plastic cups. Early last year, it became the first in the industry to introduce eco-friendly paper ice cups coated with the environmentally friendly coating technology called 'Sol Coat.' The Sol Coat technology reduces the use of synthetic resin and incorporates calcium carbonate, which helps lower carbon and greenhouse gas emissions.
A 7-Eleven representative said, "As interest in the environment continues to grow, customer response to companies' ESG activities is also increasing." They added, "We will continue to prepare events that provide various benefits to customers using personal tumblers and steadily reduce the use of disposable products within convenience stores."
