Raccoon Stuck to Railroad Tracks in Cold Wave... Rescued by Pouring Warm Water

Georgia Railroad Employee Found During Patrol
"Seems to Have Been Sitting on the Track for Too Long"

As an unusual cold wave sweeps across the Korean Peninsula and the Northeast Asia region, a raccoon stuck firmly to a frozen railway track in the freezing weather has been captured on video, drawing attention. Fortunately, the raccoon was rescued with the help of a railway worker.

According to foreign media including the Daily Mail, Neil Mullis (35), a railway worker from Cochran, Georgia, USA, discovered a raccoon on the tracks during a patrol on a cold night last month.

The raccoon did not run away even as Mullis approached closely and was clinging to the track. When Mullis got closer to check, he found that the raccoon's body was stuck to the cold frozen track and unable to move. In the video Mullis posted on his TikTok account at the time, the raccoon is seen with its body stuck to the track, only turning its head.

Mullis and his colleague brought warm water and a shovel to rescue the raccoon. The track where the raccoon had been stuck was left with torn fur. In the video, Mullis says after rescuing the raccoon, "The operation went well. The little friend is safe."

Mullis told local media, "While my colleague tried to free the raccoon with a shovel, I poured warm water under the raccoon's rear," adding, "As soon as the approximately five-minute rescue was over, the raccoon ran into the forest without looking back." He continued, "It was extremely cold outside, and it seems the raccoon got stuck because it sat on the track too long while trying to cross."

Netizens who saw this praised Mullis, saying, "Thank you for saving the raccoon," and "A kind railway worker." The video, posted on December 19 last year, has gained popularity with over 4.1 million views.
