Disaster Preparedness Liability Insurance Enrollment
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 26th that it has taken a step further from establishing a safety and health management system and strengthening facility safety management to subscribing to the Serious Accident Corporate Liability Insurance in preparation for serious accidents.
The Serious Accident Corporate Liability Insurance is intended to prepare for serious industrial accidents and serious civilian accidents. It is subscribed to compensate for damages occurring when Geochang-gun employees are exposed to serious industrial accidents or when citizens using facilities managed by Geochang-gun that are subject to serious civilian accidents are exposed to serious accidents.
With this insurance subscription, citizens using Geochang-gun’s facilities subject to serious civilian accidents can now receive civil damage compensation beyond the limits of the property insurance, which is based on actual cost reimbursement in case of exposure to serious accidents.
Governor Goo In-mo said, “The most important thing is ‘prevention,’ but since accidents can occur anytime and anywhere unpredictably, I believe that there will be no gaps in preparing for serious accidents by going beyond prevention and establishing sufficient and appropriate post-accident measures.”
Geochang-gun manages 51 locations as facilities subject to serious civilian accidents, including the Geochang-gun Office building, the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and the Geochang-gun Life Shelter. It also operates a free consulting project involving safety and health experts from disaster specialized institutions to prevent serious accidents in private workplaces with five or more employees.
