[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide 93,840 KRW per day to vulnerable groups during sick leave.
On the 25th, Seongnam City announced that it will implement a project to support a certain amount of lost income when vulnerable workers need treatment due to illness or injury but cannot take sick leave due to financial burdens.
The support targets daily workers, part-time workers, special employment workers, and small business owners who are registered residents of Seongnam City, are regional subscribers to the National Health Insurance Service, have a median income of 120% or less, and assets of 400 million KRW or less.
The city will pay 93,840 KRW per day for up to 13 days annually, applying Seongnam City's living wage for this year (hourly wage of 11,730 KRW).
Support can be applied for within six months from the discharge date or the date of the National Health Insurance Service general health checkup. The city introduced this project in October 2021 and has supported 111 people with 57.51 million KRW until last year.
