They passed the firefighter recruitment exam last year and completed 19 weeks of basic knowledge and field training (fire, rescue, emergency medical services) necessary for firefighting duties at the Central Fire Academy.
In particular, they will be assigned to field departments after undergoing a 5-week station internship, where they can directly experience sites in fields other than their recruitment area.
Kim Sang-yeop, a probationary firefighter and representative of the new firefighters, said, “It is truly an honor that my first step as a firefighter is in Changwon. I will do my best to protect the safety of the citizens.”
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I hope you become firefighters with pride and confidence as the best guardians responsible for the safety of Changwon,” and added, “I hope you listen carefully to the voices of the citizens on site and do your best for the safety of Changwon City.”
