Plan Until the 24th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 25th that it will conduct a public MyData service demand survey from tomorrow until the 24th of next month to discover new public MyData services that enhance convenience for the public.
Public MyData services provide personal information held by administrative and public institutions to the individual or a third party upon the request of the data subject, the public, to improve convenience in using public and private services.
Currently, services are provided for 159 types of personal information. In the public and financial sectors, including the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s scholarship application and bank credit loans, 89 types of services have simplified submission documents. Individuals can view their personal information or transmit it to third parties through the Public MyData Portal, simplifying over 230 million submission documents to date, thereby promoting public convenience.
This demand survey targets all institutions that wish to enhance public convenience in service use by utilizing public MyData, aiming to expand services and personal information across various fields. The public, financial, medical, and telecommunications sectors will be prioritized to utilize public MyData from this year by discovering new services and personal information through review and deliberation. Demands from other sectors will be addressed through legal and institutional improvements for utilizing public MyData via consultations between the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and relevant ministries by sector.
Last year, reflecting the results of the demand survey, the Ministry expanded 65 types of services, including passport applications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bank deposit and savings account applications, and 64 types of personal information, such as military service confirmation from the Military Manpower Administration and driving record certificates from the National Police Agency.
Lee Heeyeol, Director of the Public AI Policy Division at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “We hope that many public MyData services that enhance convenience for the public and user institutions will be discovered through this demand survey,” adding, “We will continue to strive to implement a digital platform government that the public can experience through institutional improvements and cooperation with related agencies.”
