[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Novarex announced on the 24th that the paper titled 'Anti-obesity Functional Ingredient Materials of 13 Native Plants from Jeju' written by the Life Science Research Institute was selected as an excellent paper in the International Journal of Functional Foods.
The International Journal of Functional Foods (FSBH) is an English journal that publishes research results on the effects of functional foods and functional natural materials on body functions, their mechanisms of action, and the utilization of these substances.
The research was conducted through Professor Youngseok Jung of the College of Pharmacy at Pusan National University. The study examined the anti-obesity functionality of a total of 26 raw materials extracted from 13 specialized natural plants from Jeju. Evaluations included cytotoxicity assessment, antioxidant activity assessment, triglyceride synthesis inhibition assessment, activation assessment of fat oxidation transcription factors, and activation assessment of fat accumulation transcription factors. A weighted scoring system was used to rank the suitability of the extracts as raw materials.
Novarex expects to utilize this as useful information for discovering materials that reduce body fat. Based on the research results, they plan to identify new materials. The paper selected as an excellent paper was summarized and published in the New Year's issue of 'Geonsik Today,' the journal of the Korea Health Functional Food Association.
Novarex holds the largest number of references in Korea for individually recognized health functional food raw material development, totaling 40 cases. As a result of long-term research, they plan to register one additional developed raw material in the first half of this year.
