Seocho District Residents Roundtable Discussion Discuss Solutions for a Better Neighborhood Jeon Seong-su, Seocho District Mayor

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold a total of four roundtable discussions from January 27 to February 3, with about 100 residents participating in each session.

The discussions will be held under the theme "Gathering wisdom together, our neighborhood needs ○○," dividing the 18 neighborhoods into four zones to discuss local issues.

In particular, this event is part of the ‘Communication Forum’ held for the first time in four years since the COVID-19 hiatus. It is also an opportunity for Mayor Jeon Seong-su to listen directly to residents’ voices and reflect them in district administration.

The first roundtable discussion will take place on January 27 at the 7th-floor auditorium of Bangbae 3-dong Community Center. About 100 resident representatives from Seocho 1·3-dong and Bangbae 2·3-dong will be divided into 10 groups to freely discuss the issues and development plans they feel in their neighborhoods. Afterwards, each table will select a representative opinion based on importance, and the resident chosen as the ‘leader’ will present it.

Mayor Jeon will not only participate in the discussions with residents but also respond to the presentations and engage in finding solutions together, facilitating two-way communication.

Going forward, the district will review the proposed opinions and decide on their implementation. For some items that cannot be pursued, alternative measures will be sought. Additionally, through regular review meetings, desired projects and suggestions will be managed and progress shared with residents.

Besides the roundtable discussions, the event will also feature ▲an introduction to ‘Seocho-gu’s major projects in 2023’ by the Director of the Planning and Finance Bureau of Seocho-gu Office ▲performances of Nanta, acoustic guitar, and Janggu by each neighborhood’s community center programs.

The district’s roundtable discussions will proceed as follows: Day 1 on January 27, Day 2 on January 31 (Seocho 2·4-dong, Yangjae 1·2-dong, Naegok-dong), Day 3 on February 1 (Banpo Bon·2-dong, Bangbae Bon·1·4-dong), and Day 4 on February 3 (Jamwon-dong, Banpo 1·3·4-dong).

Seocho-gu Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I expect this discussion to be a meaningful time to closely examine every corner of Seocho with residents and design the present and future together,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen on-site communication so that residents can keep saying, ‘I’m really glad to live in Seocho.’”
