Providing Personalized Exercise Services After Initial Consultation and Preliminary Evaluation
Apply at Your Local Community Service Center by January 31
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is recruiting 30 new participants for the "Customized Exercise Service for Adult Persons with Disabilities."
The "Customized Exercise Service for Adult Persons with Disabilities" aims to strengthen the physical functions of adults with disabilities to prevent secondary disabilities, reduce health disparities with non-disabled individuals, and promote independent living and social reintegration of persons with disabilities. It provides partial financial support for service usage fees to those in need of tailored welfare services.
The eligible participants are persons aged 19 or older with physical, visual, hearing, speech, intellectual, brain lesion, autism, facial, or mental disabilities (excluding internal physical function disabilities) from households with an income at or below 140% of the median income. However, those currently using disability sports programs or hospitalized patients are not eligible.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center. Selected participants will receive personalized exercise services once a week for 60 minutes each session over a total of 12 months, following an initial consultation and preliminary evaluation. The service costs 200,000 KRW per month, but the out-of-pocket expense ranges from 20,000 KRW to a maximum of 60,000 KRW depending on income level.
Geumcheon-gu will select participants prioritizing those with severe disabilities as defined by the Disability Welfare Act, younger age, and other factors. The results will be announced on January 30, and full services will commence in February.
Details on required documents, service content, and service providers can be found on the Geumcheon-gu Office website under "Notices and Announcements."
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu stated, "This project ultimately aims to promote independent living and social reintegration for persons with disabilities," adding, "We will continue to expand customized exercise services to improve the health and fitness of persons with disabilities."
