New Digital Experience Space Exclusively for Seniors Established at Eokchon-gu Public Senior Welfare Center

Kiosk and Tablet PC Education, Companion Robots, VR Devices, and Smart Table Experiences Provided

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is operating the ‘IT Happiness Learning Center,’ a digital education center exclusively for seniors, in response to the digital golden age.


The ‘IT Happiness Learning Center’ is a digital education center designed to alleviate the daily inconveniences of seniors who are not familiar with digital technology.


The district collaborated with Woori Bank to establish the ‘IT Happiness Learning Center’ at the Eokchon-gu Public Senior Welfare Center, located in an area with a high concentration of elderly population, as part of a social contribution project.


Earlier, on the 17th, Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, visited the ‘IT Happiness Learning Center’ at the Eokchon-gu Public Senior Welfare Center to tour the facility and communicate with the seniors. Mayor Kim stated, “We will provide various digital education programs to ensure that seniors do not face difficulties caused by digital technology.”


The Happiness Learning Center is equipped with a space layout and educational furniture reflecting the characteristics of the elderly, as well as the latest digital devices.


Seniors can receive various digital education on useful everyday tasks such as kiosks, tablet PCs, mobile financial transactions, navigation, and shopping.


Additionally, they can experience various digital devices including companion robots, VR devices, and smart tables, as well as digital health management.


Eunpyeong-gu plans to promote informatization education that visits anywhere upon residents’ request under the slogan, “Smart City Eunpyeong, Resident Informatization Education Begins.”


Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “We will promote various digital welfare policies for seniors in this rapidly changing digital era,” adding, “We will continue to accelerate resident education with the goal of minimizing the digital divide.”
