In particular, targeting traditional five-day markets and permanent markets where the distribution volume of agricultural and livestock products, processed goods, and ancestral rites and gift items surges during Seollal, violations such as false origin labeling, non-labeling, and mixed sales will be cracked down on. The Agricultural Products Quality Management Service will share inspection information to enhance the efficiency of the crackdown.

Furthermore, strict administrative measures such as fines and prosecutions will be taken against businesses violating related laws, while minor issues will be addressed through administrative guidance to ensure the establishment of the origin labeling system.

Additionally, guidance on items subject to origin labeling and labeling methods will be provided to street vendors and restaurant merchants, along with the distribution of origin labeling boards and promotional materials as part of concurrent publicity efforts.

Lee Byung-nam, Head of the Plum Horticulture Division, stated, “We will do our best to provide citizens with safe agricultural and livestock products by strengthening special guidance and crackdowns to ensure strict compliance with origin labeling of agricultural and livestock products during the Seollal holiday.”
