Korean Veterinary Medical Association Publishes Information on Hospitals Available for Treatment
"Fruits with Seeds, Foods High in Salt and Fat Are Not Allowed"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Joo-hee] It can be distressing when a pet suddenly falls ill or needs urgent medical attention during the Lunar New Year holiday. To prepare for this, the Korean Veterinary Medical Association has compiled and released information on animal hospitals that will be open during the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to the Korean Veterinary Medical Association, a total of 318 animal hospitals nationwide will provide veterinary services during the Lunar New Year holiday (January 21-24). It was reported that 257 locations will be open on the 21st, 134 on the 22nd, 208 on the 23rd, and 300 on the 24th.
Locations and contact information for animal hospitals by region can be found on the Korean Veterinary Medical Association website, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Animal Protection Management System, and local government websites.
This information disclosure was promoted as part of the government's Lunar New Year holiday livelihood stabilization measures, and the Korean Veterinary Medical Association surveyed the available dates for animal hospital services nationwide through its city and provincial branches.
Heo Ju-hyung, president of the Korean Veterinary Medical Association, said, "During the Lunar New Year holiday, families gather to celebrate with various holiday foods, increasing the likelihood that pets may consume foods that could cause health problems." He urged, "Please have a healthy and enjoyable holiday with your pets, and if any issues arise, visit the designated animal hospitals."
President Heo advised that foods pets should avoid include "grapes and other fruits with seeds, foods containing onions, chives, garlic, meat with bones, foods high in salt and fat, and chocolate."
