On the 20th, Promotional Activities Targeting BIE Member Countries in Paris

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, discussed economic cooperation measures with heads of state from various countries during the Davos Forum and actively requested support for hosting the Busan World Expo.
On the 18th (local time), Chairman Chey met with Aleksandar Vu?i?, President of Serbia, in Davos, Switzerland, where they agreed on the need for close economic cooperation between the two countries and discussed future areas of collaboration. Serving concurrently as Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman Chey proposed economic cooperation measures between the two countries utilizing the global supply chains of Korean companies beyond just SK’s level of cooperation.
Chairman Chey emphasized, "Korea has established global supply chains in fields such as electric vehicles and batteries, and has strengths in digital transformation, green energy, and bio sectors, making cooperation with Serbia possible in various areas." In particular, he noted that since economic organizations like the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry have diverse companies as members, it is important for these Korean companies to continuously seek business opportunities by exchanging information with Serbia.
Furthermore, Chairman Chey explained the significance of the 2030 Busan Expo and requested support for its hosting.
President Vu?i? responded, "Serbia has favorable conditions to attract foreign investment in terms of economic growth rate, corporate tax, maritime transport, and other economic infrastructure, and has actually attracted investments from global companies including those from the United States," adding, "Let us find areas where we can cooperate with Korean companies."
President Vu?i? also attended the Korea Night event held at the Ameron Hotel in Davos immediately after the meeting with Chairman Chey, where he met directly with several Korean businesspeople and government officials to discuss practical cooperation measures.
Chairman Chey also engaged in activities to support the Busan Expo bid with Milo ?ukanovi?, President of Montenegro, who attended Korea Night.
Meanwhile, after concluding the Davos Forum, Chairman Chey will travel to Paris, France, and on the evening of the 20th (local time), he plans to invite about ten ambassadors from member countries of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) stationed in Paris to a restaurant in the city to continue efforts to support the Busan Expo bid.
