Large Fire in Gangnam Guryong Village... Firefighting Response Level 2 Issued

450~500 Myeong Evacuated

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] At 6:27 AM on the 20th, a fire broke out at a house in Guryong Village, Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and the fire department is currently extinguishing it.

According to the fire department, they issued Response Level 1 at 6:39 AM and then escalated to Response Level 2 at 7:26 AM.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it is estimated that the fire spread from Guryong Village Zone 4 to Zone 5.

The fire department has evacuated approximately 450 to 500 residents from Guryong Village Zones 4, 5, and 6. So far, 145 personnel, 45 pieces of equipment, and 4 helicopters (3 fire department, 1 forest service) have been deployed.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government sent a text message urging nearby residents to evacuate quickly and to be cautious of vehicle movements.
