[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul’s Gangseo-gu (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) is taking the lead in promoting youth support policies to provide new opportunities for challenge and encourage successful social advancement for the youth, who are the hope for the future.

In particular, the district has attracted various youth facilities, drawing attention by saving the district budget.

The “Youth Employment Academy” is an educational institution that cultivates field-oriented talents desired by companies, and it opened in Gangseo-gu last December as the fifth such academy in Seoul. The Youth Employment Academy Gangseo Campus operates two courses in content production and marketer training, providing practical education necessary for employment to support youth job placement.

The “Seoul Youth Center Gangseo Orang” is a comprehensive youth policy support center located on the second floor of youth housing near Ujangsan Station, equipped with counseling rooms, meeting rooms, coworking spaces, and various other facilities, attracting many young visitors.

The “Gangseo Innovation Startup Center” seeks to revitalize the local economy and develop regional specialization projects through youth startup support via the integrated startup support platform Gangseo Makers and the Useop Center, as well as linking traditional markets with youth startup activities.

The district plans to use the budget saved through attracting youth facilities to prepare policies aimed at “walking together with socially vulnerable groups,” the goal of the 8th elected administration.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo will build a “New Media (SNS) Industry Support Center” in Banghwa-dong in July and promote specialized projects for young people with disabilities.

According to the district, about 9% of the 28,508 disabled people in the area, or 2,486 individuals, are youth aged 19 to 39.

Mayor Kim aims to help young people with disabilities achieve independence and present a new paradigm for improving social awareness by providing YouTube creator training and SNS media content creation education centered around the “New Media Industry Support Center.”
