Afternoon High Temperature 7°C
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Ye-ju] Friday the 20th marks 'Daehan (大寒)', a solar term meaning 'Great Cold'. Rain or snow is expected to fall mainly in the central region, including the Seoul metropolitan area, until the morning.
Rain or snow is forecast from the night of the 19th to the morning of the 20th in the central region (excluding the east coast of Gangwon), inland Jeonbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, northeastern mountainous Gyeongbuk, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island.
Snow flurries are expected in the eastern inland Jeonnam, southwestern inland Gyeongbuk, and northwestern inland Gyeongnam at dawn, while rain or snow will fall in some places from morning to afternoon along the southern west coast of Chungnam, the west coast of Jeonbuk, southern inland Jeonbuk, and western Jeonnam.
Expected snowfall from the 19th to 20th is 1?5 cm in northeastern Gyeonggi and inland/mountainous Gangwon, 1?3 cm in southeastern Gyeonggi, northern Chungbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, around 1 cm in southwestern Gyeonggi, northern Chungnam, and mountainous Jeju, and less than 1 cm in Seoul, Incheon, northwestern Gyeonggi, northern inland Gyeongbuk, northeastern mountainous Gyeongbuk, the five western islands (Seohae 5do), southern inland Chungcheong, and inland Jeonbuk. Less than 0.1 cm is expected along the southern west coast of Chungnam, the west coast of Jeonbuk, Jeonnam (excluding the eastern southern coast), southwestern inland Gyeongbuk, and northwestern inland Gyeongnam.
The morning low temperature is forecast to be between -6 and 3 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high between -4 and 7 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will drop sharply from noon as cold air flows in from the northwest.
Additionally, strong winds with gusts around 55 km/h (15 m/s) will blow across most regions nationwide, so caution is advised regarding facility management and safety accidents.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'moderate' across all regions. However, the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Honam region may experience temporarily 'unhealthy' levels in the morning, and the Yeongnam region and Jeju area in the afternoon.
Sea waves will range from 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea coastal waters, and 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters. In the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the East and South Seas, and 1.5 to 4.0 meters in the West Sea.
