Chairman An Jong-ju Conducts First New Year Inspection and Reviews Progress at Outstanding Business Sites
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 19th at 3 PM, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency visited Ssangyong Remicon Seongnam Branch located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province to review the progress of risk assessment and conduct an inspection to promote the on-site spread of the self-regulation prevention system.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency is inspecting whether worker participation in risk assessment activities is being effectively carried out.
This inspection was conducted to raise awareness of the importance of establishing the ‘self-regulation prevention system,’ a key element of the ‘Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap’ announced at the end of last year, and to check the implementation status of on-site risk assessments.
Ssangyong Remicon Seongnam Branch is a ready-mixed concrete manufacturing site that was recognized as an excellent workplace for risk assessment last year through the agency’s support for establishing a safety and health management system.
During the on-site inspection, activities related to establishing the self-regulation prevention system centered on risk assessment, such as identifying hazardous and risky factors and establishing improvement measures, were reviewed, and it was checked whether worker participation in risk assessment activities was effectively carried out.
Additionally, safety and health measures for ready-mixed concrete manufacturing facilities and production processes were inspected, and on-site opinions regarding improvements to the risk assessment system were gathered.
Director Ahn Jong-ju of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency emphasized that “risk assessment is a core means for the self-regulation prevention system,” and stated, “We will expand labor-management participation and strive to activate safety inspections before work so that risk assessment activities can be easily and conveniently communicated to on-site workers in industrial workplaces.”
