Expresses Affection for Company Products...Directly Promotes Galaxy and More
"When I was taking pictures, all the cameras were Canon."
Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong attended the 'Korea Night' event held at the Ameron Hotel in Davos, Switzerland, on the 18th (local time) and made a pointed joke to the press.
The 'Korea Night' event is an occasion to promote Korea and build networks among attendees of the Swiss 'Davos Forum.' This year, it was organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support the bid for the '2030 Busan World Expo.'

In the domestic business community, attendees included Chairman Lee, SK Group Chairman and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, GS Group Chairman Huh Tae-soo, CJ Group Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik, and Hyosung Group Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang.
At the event, Chairman Lee jokingly told the press, "I saw the press after a long time in Abu Dhabi, and they were all using Canon cameras," adding, "I asked because of my occupational habit, and they said they all use Canon because video recording doesn't work."
Chairman Lee's attachment to his company's products is well known.

In 2015, then Vice Chairman Lee personally went on a sales mission to get approval for using the Galaxy smartphone as a work phone at Goldman Sachs, a U.S. investment bank.
Large investment banks (IB) like Goldman Sachs only use phones specially certified by their technology departments to prevent leaks of confidential information. Until then, Goldman Sachs had only adopted iPhones and BlackBerry devices for financial work.
Vice Chairman Lee visited Goldman Sachs' New York headquarters with Samsung Electronics engineers and gave a presentation on the advantages and security features of Samsung smartphones. As a result, Samsung phones received security certification from Goldman Sachs and were allowed to be used as work phones there.
He has also often expressed his love for Galaxy phones in meetings with reporters. The story of Vice Chairman Lee handing a Samsung Galaxy smartphone to a reporter who was using an LG smartphone is well known.
