Price Inspection and Encouragement for Fire and Police Field Personnel
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the 19th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that Han Chang-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk, to inspect prices at traditional markets and encourage frontline workers such as police and firefighters during the Lunar New Year holiday.
First, Vice Minister Han visited the SK Materials Sangju Plant site to hear about cases of regional economic revitalization. At this occasion, Vice Minister Han said, “The decision to invest approximately 1.1 trillion won in a large-scale facility for producing secondary battery silicon anode materials, an advanced industry, in Sangju-si, a non-capital region, greatly contributes to national balanced development,” adding, “Such bold investment will serve as a catalyst for regional economic vitality, including job creation, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will also look into whether there are any support needs for corporate investment in non-capital regions.”

Afterwards, he visited Sangju Central Market to check prices of Lunar New Year holiday seasonal products such as fruits, meat, and dried seafood, and to listen to merchants’ difficulties. Then, he visited the Central Police Substation of Sangju Police Station and Sangju Fire Station to hear about major security and fire safety measures in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday and to encourage frontline workers.
Vice Minister Han Chang-seop of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety stated, “The government will do its best to manage prices to stabilize the livelihood of ordinary people in preparation for the severe economic situation.”
Additionally, he said, “I appreciate the hard work of police and fire officials who are doing their best on the front lines to ensure a safe and happy Lunar New Year for all citizens, and I ask that they do their utmost to leave no gaps in safety, security management, and fire prevention during the holiday period.”
