[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Motor Group specially exhibited the concept car ‘Genesis X’ at the 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, also known as the ‘Davos Forum,’ and supported the ‘Korea Night’ event.
On the 18th (local time), Hyundai Motor Group announced that it installed a transparent glass container with the ‘2030 Busan World Expo’ logo at the Ameron Hotel in Davos, Switzerland, where the Korea Night event was held, and exhibited the concept car Genesis X inside it.
Korea Night is an important event that introduces the vision of the 2030 Busan World Expo and Korean culture to key figures from various countries gathered in Davos. About 200 people attended, including foreign heads of state, representatives of major governments and organizations, global company CEOs, world-renowned scholars, and journalists.
The Genesis X was displayed at the entrance of the Korea Night venue, attracting attention from key attendees and various visitors using the venue. It naturally promoted Busan, the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo, and conveyed the vision of Korean automobiles.
Hyundai Motor Group utilized a glass container for the outdoor exhibition in Switzerland, where severe cold and heavy snowfall are frequent.
During the Davos Forum, Hyundai Motor Group is actively supporting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo. They are operating 58 vehicles wrapped with promotional slogans for the 2030 Busan World Expo. They are promoting Busan as the candidate city for the World Expo to key figures from various countries gathered for the Davos Forum, as well as locals and tourists.
In particular, Hyundai Motor Group deployed 45 eco-friendly vehicles, including 18 Genesis G80 electrified models, 8 GV60s, 4 GV70 electrified models, and 15 Hyundai Santa Fe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The theme ‘The Great Transformation of the World, Sailing Toward a Better Future’ aligns with the vision of the Busan World Expo seeking a sustainable future.
The Genesis X is the fifth concept car unveiled by Genesis, following the New York Concept, GV80 Concept, Essentia Concept, and Mint Concept, presenting Genesis’s new perspective on sustainable luxury car design.
It features an emphasis on the signature design element of Genesis, the ‘two lines.’ The two-line design applied throughout the vehicle’s interior and exterior, including the quad lamps, shows the design direction of Genesis electric vehicle models.
The name Genesis X was completed by adding ‘X,’ symbolizing the hero hidden in the brand name ‘Genesis.’
Considering the purpose of the event, the Genesis X was finally selected among various candidates as the exhibition model. The task of transporting the Genesis X from the Hyundai-Kia Technical Research Center in Namyang, Gyeonggi Province, to Switzerland was entrusted to a professional shipping company. It was transported to the airport in a security truck, then loaded into a dedicated aluminum special carrier and shipped by cargo aircraft to the local site. Hyundai Design Center researchers who participated in the concept car production and vehicle management accompanied the entire process.
