[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] Samsung Electronics' home appliances have become the first in Korea to receive the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Reliability Certification' organized by the Korea Standards Association.

On the 19th, Samsung Electronics announced that its robot vacuum cleaner 'Bespoke Jet Bot AI' and 'SmartThings Home Care' received the AI reliability certification. The AI reliability certification verifies the trustworthiness and ethics of AI technology applied to products and services. It evaluates four criteria: transparency, safety, accountability, and respect for diversity.

The Bespoke Jet Bot AI was recognized for its reliability in object recognition and classification technology. It applies LiDAR and 3D sensors and is trained on one million images. It recognizes 20 types of objects in real time, including furniture, home appliances, cups, and dogs, as well as the structure of the house. In particular, this certification statistically verified whether the robot vacuum cleaner can recognize objects regardless of the brand or shape of obstacles or dog breeds. Transparency and safety were also confirmed to ensure that object recognition-related data is collected solely for performance improvement purposes and is processed securely.

SmartThings Home Care, one of the six services provided by Samsung Electronics SmartThings, was certified for reliability due to the AI technology applied to the 'freeze prevention mode' of washing machines. When the freeze prevention mode of the Bespoke Grande AI washing machine is set, it integrates external weather forecast data collected through the 'HRM server' with the washing machine's own data such as laundry room temperature and washing temperature to provide users with advance alerts and coping guides when the risk of freezing is high.

Yumi Young, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliance Business Division, said, "Samsung Electronics has continuously introduced innovative AI technologies to make it more convenient for consumers to use home appliances," adding, "We will continue to strive to launch products with safe and reliable AI-based functions."
