Recruiting 20 youth interns... Applications accepted from January 25 to 31
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Park Hee-young) is recruiting 20 youth interns for the "Museum Professional Training in the Historical and Cultural Renaissance Special Zone." This is double the number from last year’s 10 interns.
The "Museum Professional Training in the Historical and Cultural Renaissance Special Zone" is part of the Seoul-type New Deal Job Project. The district has participated in the Seoul-type New Deal Job Project for five years since 2019. It provides young people with job experience opportunities by utilizing abundant historical and cultural resources.
A district official stated, "Satisfaction with institutions such as the National Museum of Korea, where youth interns worked last year, was considerable," adding, "Thanks to this, the number of youth intern job opportunities has greatly increased."
Youth interns are selected from majors related to museum work. After selection, they will be assigned to ▲National Museum of Korea (8 people) ▲Yongsan History Museum (2 people) ▲Lee Bong-chang History Hall (1 person) ▲War Memorial of Korea (9 people).
Youth interns assigned to the National Museum of Korea will be responsible for tasks such as public relations, marketing, international events, library operations, and support for publishing and exhibitions. Those working at Yongsan History Museum and Lee Bong-chang History Hall can gain experience in exhibitions, research, education, and artifact organization. At the War Memorial of Korea, they will support archive data organization, artifact management and preservation, education, public relations, and marketing tasks.
The employment period is a total of 12 months, from April 2023 to March 2024. The principle is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. The daily wage is 89,256 KRW, with weekly holiday allowance paid separately.
The recruitment target is residents of Seoul aged 18 to 39 as of the announcement date (January 16). The application period is from January 25 to 31. Interested youth can visit the Yongsan-gu Job Policy Office to submit application documents. Qualification requirements and screening schedules by workplace can be checked on the district’s website under the Notices/Announcements board.
The district will conduct a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews in February. Final successful candidates will be announced on February 24.
Deputy Mayor Kim Seon-su said, "Yongsan is rich in historical and cultural resources including the National Museum, memorials, Yongsan History Museum, Yongsan Craft Museum, Uiyeolsa Shrine, Hyochang Park, and Lee Bong-chang History Hall," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in discovering youth work experience opportunities utilizing local resources."
