LG Electronics to Supply Library-Tailored CLOi Robots

Integration with Library Management System and Enhanced Accessibility... Providing a New Customer Experience

Children are using the 'LG CLOi Guidebot' operated by the Changwon Library of the Gyeongnam Office of Education to search for books by voice.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG Electronics is set to fully supply LG CLOi robots equipped with library-customized solutions.

On the 19th, LG Electronics announced that it recently supplied one LG CLOi Guidebot and three LG CLOi Subbots (two shelf-type and one drawer-type) equipped with library-customized functions to enhance accessibility for users at the Changwon Library of the Gyeongnam Office of Education. This is the first time LG CLOi robots have been equipped with customized solutions linked to the library management system.

The newly supplied LG CLOi Guidebot features improved accessibility for visually impaired individuals and children who have difficulty inputting text. To this end, it is the first domestic guide robot to offer a book search service using voice recognition. It is equipped with a 27-inch large touchscreen display, allowing users to input search terms to find desired books or recommended titles.

The drawer-type LG CLOi Subbot assists in transporting books for children and people with mobility difficulties. After selecting desired books at a dedicated search desk for children and disabled users and requesting delivery, the librarian places the books into the robot’s drawer, and the LG CLOi robot directly transports the books to a dedicated reading room. It is also used to transport books returned to unmanned return stations.
