Next Month in New York: 'Gugak + B-Boying' Fusion Performance... North America Premiere

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The Korean Cultural Center New York announced on the 18th that it will hold the North American premiere of the traditional music and b-boying fusion performance 'MERRY-GO-ROUND' at the KnJ Theater in the Peridance Center, Manhattan, New York, on February 4-5 (local time).

MERRY-GO-ROUND is a performance that reinterprets break dance and street dance through the language of contemporary dance and incorporates traditional music. It is praised for dynamically and powerfully expressing the 'han' and 'heung' of our lives through traditional music led by the geomungo and b-boying.

This performance is a new work by choreographer Kim Seol-jin, a member of the Belgian contemporary dance company 'Peeping Tom,' and the creator group Mover led by dancer Kim Ki-soo, who won the Korean TV competition program 'Dancing 9.' It was first introduced in Korea last year and received great acclaim. Along with choreographer Kim Ki-soo, world-class dancers including Seong Seung-yong, Lee Byung-jun, Shim Ju-yong, Kim Ki-joo, and Jung Soo-jin will appear, and geomungo performance will be by Kim Jun-young of the Creative Orchestra of the National Gugak Center of Korea.
