Hamyang-gun Creates Safe and Comfortable Lunar New Year Holiday Environment

Preparation of 14 Detailed Plans and Measures in 4 Major Areas

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, is implementing a ‘Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Plan’ to create a safe and pleasant holiday atmosphere ahead of the nation’s biggest traditional holiday, Seollal.

In celebration of Seollal, the county will actively strive to ensure that all residents can spend a safe and comfortable holiday through 14 detailed implementation plans in four major areas: ▲citizen safety ▲stabilization of low-income households and spreading a sharing atmosphere ▲resolving residents’ inconveniences ▲establishing public service discipline.

First, from the 21st to the 24th during the holiday period, a comprehensive situation room will be operated to comprehensively manage various incidents, accidents, and civil complaints. In addition, 27 personnel in 11 teams, including field workers and workers from 11 eup and myeon offices, will be on emergency duty to minimize inconvenience to residents.

To prevent various safety accidents such as disasters and calamities during the Seollal holiday, a disaster and calamity response team will be operated, and continuous situation management will be carried out through prior prediction of heavy snowfall and rapid situation dissemination. Active measures to prevent forest fires during the holiday period will also be promoted.

The Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters situation room and the infectious disease response team will be operated to maintain the COVID-19 response system, and home treatment counseling centers and screening clinics will be open during the holiday period to fully establish the COVID-19 response system.

Furthermore, to minimize medical service gaps during the Seollal holiday, emergency medical institutions and duty pharmacies will be operated to create a safe holiday environment. The plan also includes revitalizing the local economy through price management and encouraging the use of traditional markets.

In particular, the county will actively strengthen the social safety net and foster a warm holiday atmosphere by visiting low-income elderly households spending Seollal alone, enhancing safety checks for solitary elderly, and visiting social welfare facilities and marginalized neighbors.

To resolve residents’ inconveniences during the holiday period, inspections of water supply and sewage facilities and emergency water supply measures will be prepared. As many visitors are expected to come to Hamyang, traffic safety management will be strengthened through inspections of traffic facilities and operation of a situation team.

Additionally, timely disposal of household waste and operation of emergency collection teams will be conducted, while guidance and crackdown on illegal dumping will be intensified. A mountain collection system will be established to prevent the accumulation of household waste during the holiday period.

For the convenience of civil petitioners, an emergency system by department will be maintained. Emergency workers will receive and promptly process civil complaints by transferring them to the person in charge, and unmanned civil service issuance machines will be pre-inspected to minimize inconvenience.
