[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] The court dismissed the arrest warrants for two clients who attempted to evade military service through military service brokers.
According to the legal community on the 18th, Kwon Giman, chief judge of the Seoul Southern District Court, dismissed the arrest warrants for two suspects charged with violating the Military Service Act the day before.
The court ruled, "Considering that the suspects have fixed residences, the evidence collected related to the charges, and their attitude during interrogation, it is difficult to see any risk of evidence destruction or flight."
The Criminal Division 5 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Eunhye) had requested the arrest warrants the day before, citing concerns over evidence destruction as the suspects denied the charges.
The prosecution captured circumstances where the suspects pretended to be fake epilepsy patients to lower their military service grades and introduced brokers to their acquaintances. It is reported that the suspects subject to the warrants were either affiliated with violent organizations or had previously engaged in illegal lending businesses.
