Haenam-gun, Generous Donations Continue for Hometown Love Donation Program

Over 60 Million Won in Just Two Weeks Since Implementation

[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] In Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, a continuous stream of donations from various sectors, including hometown natives, is flowing into the Hometown Love Donation Program.


According to the county on the 18th, on the 17th, Professor Myeong Wang-seong of Hanshin University, a former K-League soccer player, donated the highest amount of 5 million won, expressing his desire to contribute to Haenam-gun, his hometown and the place where his father, County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan, is administering local government.

So far, 150 people have participated in the Hometown Love Donation in Haenam-gun, and the total donations have exceeded 60 million won within two weeks of the program’s implementation.


Among them, 12 donors contributed a large amount of over 1 million won, totaling 47 million won, while 138 donors gave small donations of 100,000 won or less, totaling 13 million won. This outpouring of support is the result of the combined efforts of hometown natives from Haenam and people from all walks of life across the nation who love and support Haenam.


Among politicians, the first donation on the program’s first day was made by Park Gwang-on, a member of the National Assembly from Hyeonsan, Haenam. Mayor Choi Dae-ho of Anyang City, also from Hyeonsan, personally visited Nonghyup Bank, the city’s treasury bank, to donate 3 million won. As for local growth-based entrepreneurs, CEO Lim Jang-taek of Yumac donated 15 million won together with his children (Lim Jun-beom, Lim Hyun-ho), and CEO Jeon Yeon-su of Wonkwang Electric donated 2 million won.


Among hometown associations based in Haenam, the largest is the Jae Gwangju Haenam-gun Hometown Association. CEO Kim Bo-su, who is from Hwasan and runs a small and medium-sized enterprise in Naju; current president Kim Woo-yeol; former presidents Yoo Kyung-sik (27th and 28th terms); and Kim Young-tae, CEO of Koas located in Dongnim-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, each generously donated the highest amount of 5 million won for hometown development. Additionally, Oh Deuk-sim, current president of the Jae Gye-gok-myeon Hometown Association, donated 1 million won at the inauguration ceremony of the 14th president on the 11th.


County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, “Although it has been less than a month since the program was implemented, I am grateful for the exceptional hometown love shown by our local natives.” He added, “I believe that love for Haenam alone will be a great force for regional development, and I ask for the participation of more hometown natives and citizens.”
