Noyeonhong, Former MFDS Commissioner, Likely to Become New President of Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Association

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Noh Yeon-hong, former Commissioner of the Korea Food and Drug Administration, has been virtually nominated as the new president of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association.

The association decided through discussions among the board chairpersons to recommend Noh as the sole candidate for president at the board chairpersons' meeting scheduled for the 14th of next month. Once the candidate is recommended, the board of directors will appoint the next president and report the final decision at the regular general meeting scheduled for the 21st of next month.

Noh, a graduate of the 27th Administrative Examination, has held key positions in the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He served as the Secretary for Health and Welfare at the Blue House, Commissioner of the Korea Food and Drug Administration, and Senior Secretary for Employment and Welfare at the Blue House during the Lee Myung-bak administration. Afterwards, he served as Vice President of Gachon University and as an advisor at Kim & Chang law firm. Last year, he also participated as a member of the COVID-19 Special Committee of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee.

As a health and medical expert who values communication, he completed doctoral coursework at the University of York in the UK and had a secondment there, establishing a strong connection with the UK. Known for his gentle and considerate work style, he earned the nickname "British Gentleman."
