From January 12, receive at your desired location
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun announced that when issuing a new resident registration card, applications and issuance are now possible at all eup, myeon offices (community service centers) nationwide, and recipients can collect their cards at the eup, myeon office or resident autonomy center they designate.
Previously, applicants aged 17 or older receiving their resident registration card for the first time could only apply and collect the card at the eup, myeon, or dong offices (community centers) of their registered address, which imposed the burden of having to visit the eup, myeon office of their residence to obtain a new resident registration card.
There have been continuous complaints about the inconvenience to resident registration card applicants and shortcomings in the current system’s operation. In response, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety amended the Enforcement Decree of the Resident Registration Act in July last year, and the new system was implemented from January 12 this year to enhance residents’ convenience.
In particular, it is expected that the inconvenience of daily life will be greatly alleviated for youths living away from home in dormitory schools, as they can now easily issue and collect their resident registration cards at eup, myeon offices (community centers) near their schools.
Furthermore, starting February 1, online applications for new resident registration cards will be possible through ‘Government24’.
After applying online, applicants must visit a fingerprint registration agency (eup, myeon, dong community center) within six months to register their fingerprints to complete the issuance application.
A county official stated, “We will actively promote the changed system and procedures to ensure that new resident registration applicants and other civil petitioners do not experience inconvenience,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create convenient and high-quality administration for civil petitioners.”
