Monthly Delivery of Food Packages Worth 5 Million KRW Since 2017
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd. is attracting attention for continuing its sponsorship activities for the underprivileged for seven years.
Since 2017, it has been supporting 100 single-parent households in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City with food package boxes called 'Love S-BOX' (5 million KRW per month, 60 million KRW annually), and this year it continued without change.
Gwangju Shinsegae (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) announced on the 18th that it has launched full-scale love-sharing activities for underprivileged children in the region ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the morning of the day, the Love S-BOX delivery ceremony was attended by Gwangju Shinsegae executives and employees, Seo-gu Office Welfare Policy Department staff, representatives from the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, and officials from five comprehensive social welfare centers, brightening the event.
Gwangju Shinsegae’s ‘Love S-BOX’ is a social contribution activity that started in 2017 and is now in its seventh year, aimed at helping underprivileged groups such as single-parent families in the region.
In cooperation with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, Seo-gu, and five welfare centers in Seo-gu (Geumho, Ssangchon, Mujin, Siyoung, Nongsung), customized one-to-one packages consisting of easy meals, snacks, and daily necessities are provided to single-parent children in Seo-gu to offer support and care for their health.
The cumulative amount to date reaches 360 million KRW.
In addition, since 2004, for 20 years, it has continued the social contribution activity ‘Helping Single-Parent Children’ to support living expenses for 42 low-income children every month.
A Gwangju Shinsegae social contribution official said, “As a local corporation, we will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities as a company that opens a culture of sharing and coexistence in the local community.”
